Where they peeled almonds

This painting takes me back to the distant village of Kabadian in Tajikistan, where some of the finest almond varieties were grown. Every harvest season, families gathered beneath the almond trees to remove the green husks from freshly picked almonds by hand. Laughter, conversations, and the sound of busy hands filled the warm autumn air as generations worked side by side. For our family, it was more than a harvest—it was a cherished tradition, a way of life, and a livelihood passed down from generation to generation. Like many children growing up in rural Tajikistan, I learned the values of hard work, patience, and respect for family traditions by working alongside my parents and grandparents. These memories remain among the most treasured moments of my childhood.
